wjh rodeo art Wayne C. Schultz Junior High student Mason DeRouen participated in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Awards Ceremony to receive his “Best of Show” award and art scholarship. Mason was awarded the Glassell Junior Art Scholarship Award at the ceremony. The Glassell Junior School of Art scholarship, affiliated with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, teamed up with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo art program to provide art school scholarships to 120 kindergarten through 12th grade students for art workshops held during the summer months. Scholarships are awarded based on the student’s academic, extracurricular, and artistic success by winning Best of Show, Gold Medal, or Special Merit art awards. Mason won the “Best of Show” for Waller ISD’s Junior High Art Division and qualified to apply for the scholarship.
