Abandoned Animal Rescue Pet of the Week |
|
Suzy is a 3-year-old female Staffordshire Terrier. She was near starving when she wandered up to someone’s front porch and started eating their cat’s food. The owners’ cat was hissing at her, but that did not bother Suzy, she kept eating and her and the cat seemed to get along just fine after that. Suzy is highly affectionate with a sense of humor and enjoys meeting new people. She has gained much-needed weight and has been treated for heartworms. Suzy would love to go for long walks and spend some quality time with her human companion. She is an intelligent, energetic girl who sometimes can get a little rough when she plays; you just have to let her know with a little positive reinforcement to settle down. She is in a dog run most of the day, so once she gets her own place and is able walk around freely in her big back yard, she should mellow out. She weighs 33 pounds and is low maintenance with a short black and white coat, which rarely needs to be brushed. She is probably potty trained because she keeps her kennel run exceptionally clean. She gets along with some dogs, while others she does not. Suzy is good with kids, but preferably not smaller kids. She will need an interactive family who will establish a leadership role and will spend time playing with her.
