Magnolia Police Officer Lopez becomes Sergeant

Magnolia Police Officer Jose Lopez (left) was promoted from Corporal to Sergeant at the city council meeting held May 17. Lopez came to Magnolia Police Department in 2008 from the North Forest Police Department. Police Chief Domingo Ibarra said that during the 2011 “Take the Wheel” program, or Driving While Intoxicated enforcement, Lopez served more DWIs than the entire department. He also earned the Top 2010 DWI Arresting Officer award. Lopez requested to receive his Sergeant badge from Officer Hirad Salmassi (right), who joined MPD from North Forest with Lopez.
