Approximately 30 Bear Branch Junior High (BBJH) Band students participated recently in the audition process for the Region 9 All-Region Bands and Orchestras. More than 1,000 students from the North Houston area were involved in this audition. Six students from BBJH were awarded chairs in one of these prestigious groups. Two eighth graders earned a chair in both the All-Region Band and the All-Region Orchestra. Clarinetist Lauren Batchelor earned a chair in the Symphony Orchestra and the Wind Ensemble. Daniel Aman earned a chair in the Philharmonic Orchestra and the Symphonic Band in the French Horn section. Also earning a chair in the Philharmonic Orchestra is seventh grade bassoon player Dawn McKamie. Flutists Lauren Brown, eighth grade, and Carol Pettijohn, seventh grade, both earned chairs in the Concert Band. Eighth grader Alana Stoddart, playing alto saxophone, earned a chair in the Concert Band.
