From June 5, 1995, at exactly 4:15 p.m., when he held her in his arms for the first time, to today, as that same little girl begins to slowly slip away from his vigilant grasp to independently explore the world, he has been there through it all. His dark brown eyes watched her clumsily ride that pink bike down the street for the first time. His strong hands attempted to make those little blond pig tails absolutely perfect. His ears listened attentively every time she sang her favorite nursery rhyme, even though he'd heard it everyday. His feet slowly shuffled across the kitchen floor as a soft song played, with those tiny feet upon his, and their hands intertwined. That's why she doesn't think of him as only the best dad in the world, but also her best friend.
His dark brown eyes will watch her drive away in her first car that she will be so proud of. His strong hands will embrace her after she leads her team to victory once again. His ears will listen to her babble on about some teenage boy in her class that she's crazy about. His feet will slowly walk her down the aisle, with an enormous smile on her face, and a tear running down his. That's why she doesn't think of him as only the best dad in the world, but also her best friend. So, no matter what happens to her, or where that little girl goes, she will always be able to come back home to that same man who seemed to be the only one who saw past her hazel eyes and looked at her from the inside. She could be herself with him, and laugh every time they were together. She will always love him with everything she has. That's why she doesn't think of him as only the best dad in the world, but also her best friend. I love you daddy!!!
