Magnolia’s Herben earns Eagle Scout award for Post Office project

eagle scout Douglas Herben, a member of Boy Scout Troop 1114 in Magnolia, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Troop 1114 is chartered by the Magnolia United Methodist Church.  Herben’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor will be held later this year. He is the first Eagle Scout for the newly organized Orion District in the Sam Houston Area Council.

Herben started in Scouting as a Tiger Cub in 1999 and progressed through the ranks in Cub Scouting, earning Bobcat, Wolf, Bear, the Webelos Badge, and the Arrow of Light before crossing into Boy Scouting in February 2004. Herben is a member of St. Matthias Catholic Church in Magnolia and has earned the Ad Altare Dei religious award.

Herbens’ Eagle Project benefited the Post Office in Magnolia and required 167 hours of labor. He is a junior at Magnolia West High School where he is a member of the Debate Team. Herben hopes to attend Southern Methodist University majoring in business and later attend Baylor School of Law.
