| SOS seeking sponsors as back to school drive continues |
|
One of the many community service projects the Society of Samaritans (SOS) offers is a Back to School clothing drive which supplies school age children one new outfit and three gently used outfits for students within the Magnolia Independent School District who are suffering hardships and need assistance.
As of July 28, 608 students have signed up for back to school clothing through SOS. According to SOS’s Sue Storch, due to present economic conditions, SOS is in urgent need for people to sponsor a child or family or donate financially so they can purchase clothing for students. In 2008 SOS assisted 400 students with new outfits, three gently used and 100 additional gently used outfits from its clothing distribution center.
“As you can see, we have past that number and have less funding this year,” Storch said. “Donations and funds raised from the Back to School Fashion Show simply will not meet the larger community need this year without continued community support.” To sponsor one or more children, visit www.societyofsamaritans.com and use the online sponsorship form.
For monetary donations mail to Society of Samaritans, Back to School Project, P.O. Box 912, Magnolia, TX 77353.
