Tomball PD responds to area’s youth with creation of Explorer Post

Based on input received from local youth and graduates of this year’s Youth Citizens Police Academy who have expressed interest in careers in public service, the Tomball Police Department has announced the creation of Explorer Post No. 5451. Exploring is a youth vocational leadership program that brings working public safety professionals and teenagers together in an effort to develop leadership skills while creating exposure to the various public safety professions (police, fire and EMS).

In addition to vocational skills, Explorers will learn skills such as team building, public speaking and interviewing. They will also learn how to organize their time to accomplish tasks for school and extracurricular activities.

Those interested are invited to learn about the Public Safety Exploring program by attending the “first-nighter,” which will be held at the Tomball Community Center Nov. 4 from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Those who wish to attend or for more information, call Sgt. Rebecca Carlisle at 281-290-1312.  Information is also available by visiting www.tomballpd.com and clicking the link to the Exploring website.
