Cowboy Church provides Texas Children’s Hospital with holiday meal

During a time of year when most people are running to Grandma’s house, busily shopping or cooking, Champion Cowboy Church in Hockley was thinking of others. Champion Cowboy Church provided Thanksgiving Dinner to all of Texas Children’s Hospital.

“We had a niece with neuroblastoma cancer and spent several months at Texas Children’s Hospital. We know that all of the families here have so much going on and what a blessing it is for these families to just have a home-cooked meal,” Pastor Gene Johnson said.

Three years ago the church decided to feed the families and staff on the ninth floor of Texas Children’s, as the church has grown they have been able to increase the number of people served.

This year Champion Cowboy Church fed more than 900 people Thanksgiving Dinner including patients, their families, doctors, nurses and even the parking and security staff.

“We have wonderful people in our church who love the opportunity to serve others; we just want to be a blessing,” Johnson said.
