Ag essays could earn local students scholarships

Capital One Bank is teaming up with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to support one of its four pillars – education. As part of this year’s Capital One Rodeo Essay Contest, students ages 5-12 are invited to submit essays on the topic “What does agriculture mean to you?” for a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship. Five Houston-area winners will have the $1,000 deposited directly into a Capital One Bank account to be used for college admission and related costs.

The deadline for submission is March 31 and essays can be dropped off at any Capital One Bank location. Winners will be notified in April 2010.
