| Demolition Derby Set for Chad Treichel Memorial Arena |
|
The event has become an annual rodeo of crashing cars, wild wheeling and fun food for the White Dove of Hope, a local non-profit organization. White Dove was established in 2003 with the goal of helping those in the community who are faced with crisis in their lives by providing monetary relief for every day or extraordinary expenses, according to President Leonard Treichel. Slated as a kid and family friendly environment with activities for all ages, seating for the event is on a first come first serve basis, so come early and prepare to stay late. Special wheelchair and handicap accessible seating is available. Activities kick off on April 23 with a two-day Lonestar Barbecue Society sanctioned cook-off. On Saturday, The Texas Four Wheel Drive Organization will get the crowd revved up at 11 a.m. with plenty of fast four-wheel action. Events also include a live auction and cash raffle. Derby driver packets are available online at www.whitedoveofhope.org. The Regular Derby entry fee is $100 in advance or $150 on event day. Raffle tickets are available at Fields Store Community merchants for $5 each or five for $20. Prizes include a John Deere Gator, a 42-inch Samsung plasma TV, a $100 bank card and a $50 bank card.
