| Tomball Walk for Life to benefit PERC |
|
Tomball’s Inaugural Family Walk For Life is scheduled for May 22. The goal of the event is “to move the hearts and minds of the people in the Tomball community and beyond so that life is truly respected and celebrated and becomes a dominant value in our society,” Lynn Stewart, Pregnancy Education and Resource Center (PERC) Development Director, said. “We seek to accomplish this objective by demonstrating our commitment to the value of human life starting at the moment of conception, by providing information, support and alternatives to those who find themselves in the crisis of an unintentional pregnancy.” The beneficiary of this year’s walk is PERC and Salem Lutheran Church is the host church this year. “Salem is excited to partner with PERC in the first Tomball Walk for Life,” Tim Niekirk, Discipleship Pastor at Salem, said. “We see this as a great opportunity to come together as a community to lift up the biblical truth of the miracle and sanctity of life.” PERC offers physical, emotional, educational and spiritual support to those who visit the Center. To date, PERC serves 33 zip codes from the surrounding Tomball and Houston Metro area. Two walk times are scheduled, 9 a.m. with sign-in at 8 a.m., and noon with sign-in at 11 a.m. Walk for Life is a leisurely walk along a half-mile path at Juergens Park in Tomball. Prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third highest fundraiser for each Walk. Prizes include a Wii Fit Entertainment System, an iPod Touch and an iPod Nano.
