NAM announces ‘Saddle Up for NAM’ painted horse project

nam horse Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) announced last week its newest fundraising project, “Saddle Up for NAM.” Life-sized fiberglass horses are making their way to the Northwest Houston/North Harris County area in June 2010.

The horses will be painted by local artists selected by a panel of judges and then displayed throughout the community. During the time the horses are being painted, they will be “stabled” at Vintage Park.

For a $3,500 sponsorship, individuals or businesses may display a painted horse on their property for several weeks leading up to NAM’s Jeans & Jewels Gala. The sponsorship also includes a half page ad in the Jeans & Jewels gala program.

The Jeans & Jewels gala, NAM’s largest annual fund raising event, will be held on Oct. 16 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. The horses will be auctioned off at the Gala, raising more funds for NAM. This year’s event honors Sandra and Eddie Harrell and is co-chaired by Carol Cobb and Linda Fowler.

Interested individuals or businesses may also order a custom painted horse for a sponsorship of $10,000, which also includes the donor’s name on a plaque at the base of the horse and a full page ad in the Jeans & Jewels program. The custom horses belong to their sponsors and will not be auctioned off.

“I am so excited about the Saddle Up for NAM program,” said Gala co-chair Linda Fowler. “These horses will create a lot of visibility for the gala and for NAM in our community.”

Co-chair Carol Cobb said, “Jeans & Jewels is a wonderful event for a truly worthy cause.  We hope that Saddle Up for NAM will be a community-wide project to raise awareness about NAM in a fun, creative way.”
