| Waller County cancer relay raises $60,000 |
|
Money raised during Relay For Life benefits the American Cancer Society. The Society is the largest non-profit supporter of new cancer research and the largest voluntary health organization fighting cancer in our country and around the world. “We appreciate all the support we received from each of the teams, as well as from our sponsors,” said Theresa Miller, event chair. “We are especially grateful to the many volunteers and their families for all of their hard work to make this event happen.” The top five team fundraisers were: We Believe-EP, raising $10,086, followed by We Believe–Survivors with $6,429, while The Sassy Sisters and Peyton’s Pals came in third, both raising $2,691, followed by Catacombs with $2,250. Residents of Waller recently took a step toward a cure for cancer when they walked throughout the night during the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. Fifty-nine teams and hundreds of local and visiting residents came together during this year’s Relay to raise more than $60,000.
