Spirit of Magnolia Fourth of July organizers have announced the entertainment line-up for the second annual celebration in Unity Park. This year’s headliner will be the Charlie Lucas Band.

“We are very excited to get this band. Not only do they have a huge following and several awards under their belts, but they are from Magnolia,” said Pat Zaiontz of the Magnolia Historical Society, which is sponsoring the event.

In fact, all of the entertainment at the Spirit of Magnolia Fourth of July celebration will be local. Cassidy Hurst, a spunky 15-year-old with a big voice, will take the stage at 2 p.m. followed by illumin8, a performing dance company from the Lone Star Cowboy Church in Montgomery. The Phillip Griffin Band will take the stage at 3 p.m. and the Jessica Walker Band, who are receiving local radio play of their acoustic, R&B and soul, will play from 4:15 to 5 p.m. DB5, with lead vocalist Steve Foster of Magnolia, are slated to round out the evening just before the Charlie Lucas Band offers an hour and a half of music from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

“It is just amazing that we have so much talent and diversity of music in the Magnolia area,” Zaiontz said.

There is no admission fee for the July 4 celebration and no fee for the musical entertainment. Unity Park, located just off Nichols Sawmill Road across from Magnolia Junior High School will open at 2 p.m. with an old-fashioned Texas Fourth of July parade led by parade marshal Mayor Todd Kana. The mayor will be traveling in a U.S. Army Reserve tactical fire fighting truck, provided by the 463rd Engineer Detachment Firefighters stationed in Houston.

Off-site parking for the event is encouraged and there will be a free shuttle service. Contact event coordinator Katrina Welch at 281-356-2266 for more information about the second annual Spirit of Magnolia Fourth of July Celebration or visit cityofmagnolia.com and select the City Calendar.
