| City pool offers chance to cool off from summer heat |

Now that summer is in full swing, Tomball citizens will no doubt be looking for a chance to beat the heat with a splash in the swimming pool. The City of Tomball has announced details, including prices and operating hours of the city pool, located at 1240 Ulrich. The pool is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. each day through Aug. 20. From Aug. 21 to Sept. 5, the pool is open only on weekends. The pool is closed on Mondays for maintenance. Admission for non-city residents to the Tomball City Pool is $2 per day for children 12 and under and $4 per day for anyone 13 and over. Tomball residents pay $1 for children 12 and under and $2 for those 13 and over. Tomball residents must present a recent City of Tomball water bill in order to receive half off admission, swim passes and discounts for swim lessons. Summer-long swim passes are available for $160 for children, $240 for adults and $400 for a family of four. Passes can be purchased at the Magnolia/Tomball YMCA, located at 36725 FM 1774 in Magnolia. In addition to operating the city pool, the YMCA is also offering swim lessons. The program is available to preschool children ages 3-5 and youth ages 6 and up. The rate for Tomball residents is $50 and $70 for non-city residents. Morning lessons are held from Tuesday through Friday at 8:30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. Classes are 30 minutes each. Session II is scheduled for June 15-25, Session 3 for June 29-July 9, Session 4 for July 13-23 and Session 5 for July 27-Aug. 6. Evening swim lessons are available Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m., 6:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. Session 1 is being held now through June 24, while Session 2 is set for June 29 and July 22.
