“We have not had this event in more than five years,” said Jana Anders, co-chair of the GTACC 2010 New Teacher Reception Committee. “We are very excited to once again be welcoming these new teachers with an afternoon designed just for them.”

“All Jazzed Up,” to be held at Salem Lutheran Community Center, is being presented to help new teachers become familiar with Tomball and all its offerings. Businesses, services and retailers are invited to join in this exclusive event that will feature Rae McKee as guest speaker. McKee received the National Teacher of the Year award in 1991 and is a West Virginia native and West Virginia University alumni, who now calls Tomball home.

In addition, cool jazz will dominate the afternoon with live musicians, light fare and humor. Sponsorship opportunities range from $25 to $2,500, with display tables offered at the $1,000 to $2,500 level. All sponsors will be included in a PowerPoint presentation at the event and receive full exposure to the new teachers in attendance.

“We hope our local business and retail partners realize the value of not only welcoming new teachers to Tomball, but treating them to a personal look at the array of businesses, shops and services in the area. We grow the local economy by shopping at home, and we shop at home when we know what is here,” said Luanne Walling, co-chair of the GTACC New Teacher Reception Committee said.
