The Montgomery County Constable’s office, in conjunction with Magnolia ISD, is seeking help from students to solve crimes.

“Kid Save” functions as part of Montgomery County Crime Stoppers to take anonymous tips for unsolved crimes with the additional possibility of a cash reward.

“It’s for kids to, if they see something going on in schools or hear of something, they can call and get a reward if someone gets arrested or contraband is seized,” said Captain Chris Jones of the Pct. 5 Constable’s Office.

Following recent crimes on school grounds, including the vandalized Mustang mascot at Magnolia West High School, officials want to get the word out about the program.

Jones said representatives with the Constable’s office and the school district got together two years ago and came up with the program.

“We wanted a way for kids to have an active role in taking responsibility for their schools,” said Jones. “What we’ve found is that by giving kids in the district a way to clean their school up, they want to clean their school up and they can do something about it. They just don’t want to be in the middle of it.”

To participate, students and residents of Magnolia can call a hotline to anonymously report criminal information that occurs on all Magnolia ISD campuses.

Rewards will be given for information that results in action by law enforcement authorities.

Anyone with information related to a crime that has occurred at a Magnolia ISD school campus can call the Kid Save line at 281-356-SAVE (7283).
