Waller ISD and District Superintendent Danny Twardowski recently announced the final results of the 2010 Texas Education Agency (TEA) Accountability, which showed Waller ISD earning a “Recognized” accountability rating.

Seven of eight Waller ISD’s schools were rated either “Exemplary” or “Recognized.” The Waller ISD received “Exemplary” on 22 out of 25 indicators, and “Recognized” on the other three indicators.  In addition, Waller ISD’s students achieved gains in standards at or above the State average in 20 of the 27 tested areas.

“This is a tremendous improvement compared to last year’s 14 areas that were at or above the State average,” Twardowski said.

The accountability ratings are based on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) tests that all students enrolled in Texas public schools in grades 3 through 11 are required to pass.  Waller ISD continues to improve overall each year as the standards change and become increasingly complex.

Overall, TAKS test gains averaged between three to nine percentage points in mathematics and reading. In writing, the gain ranged between two to eight percentage points. In social studies, the gain ranged between one and seven percentage points.  The highest gains were between four to 15 percentage points in science.

The 2010 ratings are the highest results in Waller ISD’s history.
