The deadline for the 2011 Miss Tomball Pageant is nearing. Junior or senior girls interested in applying as a contestant in the scholarship pageant may pick up an application at the Greater Area Tomball Chamber of Commerce, 29201 Quinn Rd., Ste. B., Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Deadline for Miss Tomball applications is Friday, Oct. 8, at 5 p.m.

Each year the Chamber kicks off the holiday season with its annual themed parade that takes place the morning of the pageant. This year’s parade theme, “Peace, Love and Holidays,” will carry over to the pageant. The parade will begin at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 20, on Main Street. One of the highlights of the GTACC Holiday Parade is the appearance of Miss Tomball Pageant contestants.

After a day of pageant and parade activities the 2011 Miss Tomball Pageant will begin at 7 p.m. in the Salem Lutheran Church worship center. For the second consecutive year, the Miss Tomball Pageant will be in the performing arts and worship center.

Contestants will be judged on the basis of poise, personality and beauty. Ten semi-finalists will be chosen and five finalists will be awarded trophies, in addition to other prizes and gifts.

To be eligible to apply as a contestant for the 2011 Miss Tomball Pageant, girls must be between the ages of 15 and 19; reside in Tomball ISD or have a physical Tomball home address, or be home-schooled or be enrolled in a public or private school with a Tomball address; and classified as a junior or senior.

Applicants must also agree to secure a sponsor for the pageant. Sponsorships are $250 for GTACC members and $350 for non-members.
