LSC-Tomball takes pause for annual K-9 Fun Run

fun run The 23rd Annual Scarlett Scamper K-9 Fun Run and Costume Contest will be held the morning of Oct. 23 at Lone Star College-Tomball (LSC-Tomball) near the Zion Road entrance. Dog owners are encouraged to bring their pets and enter them in the costume contest and/or one-mile race.

 

Activities begin at 7:30 a.m. with packet pick-up and registration. The costume contest starts at 8:30 a.m., and the one-mile race begins at 9 a.m. Dogs will be grouped according to weight. Only dogs whose owners can show proof of current vaccinations are eligible to participate. Minors entering their dogs must have parental consent.

 

A trophy will be awarded to the first, second and third-place race winners from each group. A trophy will also be awarded to the costume winner from each group. One dog will receive the overall Grand Champion trophy. Scarlett Scamper, the Boston-Terrier for whom the event is now named, was a six-time Grand Champion.

Sponsored by the LSC-Tomball Veterinary Technology (Vet Tech) Student Organization, Banfield, The Pet Hospital and Tomball Pet Resort, this event helps raise money for continuing education classes in the Vet Tech program.
