Chamber to honor Vietnam era veterans in holiday parade

holiday parade The Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce (GTACC) is issuing an open call to all Vietnam era veterans in the area to be honored as a group parade marshal in its upcoming annual Tomball Holiday Parade, Nov. 20.

“We are calling on all area Vietnam veterans who would like to join us for the parade and be honored as a group parade marshal,” GTACC Vice President of Operations Brandy Beyer said. “This parade brings history full circle with its theme, ‘Peace, Love and the Holidays.’ We want our men and women who served during the Vietnam era to know how much we appreciate their sacrifices and service.”

Vietnam era veterans, those who served in any country between 1961 and 1975, may call the Chamber office in advance to RSVP. A float will be provided for veteran participants. However, Chamber organizers are hoping the response will be so great that many Vietnam era veterans will choose to walk.

The 2010 Tomball Holiday Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20. The annual event presents its 45th edition this year. The parade heralds the season of holidays, from Thanksgiving to New Year’s and all those in between in the greater Tomball area and usually draws a crowd of 40,000 or more for the parade, lunch and shopping. For more information, visit the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce online at TomballChamber.org or call 281-351-7222.
