Harvest Fest latest Magnolia Stroll celebration

Harvest Fest is coming to the Magnolia Stroll on Friday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 10 p.m. In celebration of the harvest moon and all things fall, Harvest Fest will provide a free evening out for the entire family. Highlighting the event will be the Houstonian Big Band, a 15-piece orchestra which will provide music from the 40s and 50s.

“Our ‘Evening on the Stroll Art and Wine Tasting last June’ was such a success, that we decided another evening in the fall would be a great follow-up,” Harvest Fest organizer Dona Hunt said. “We love this relatively new venue in our city (the Stroll) and love that we can offer another event free for the public to enjoy.”

Hunt and the committee members who are organizing the event hope groups in the community will join in the fun by participating in the Harvest Fest Decorating Contest, which will have a People’s Choice Award given to the most popular display. Businesses, clubs, churches, school groups and others are encouraged to participate by submitting scarecrow, harvest and other fall interpretive displays along the Stroll. There is no contest fee.

In addition to music and decorations, Harvest Fest will offer wine tastings from local vineyards and wineries including Retreat Hill Winery & Vineyard, Enchanted Manor Winery, Bernhardt Winery and Colony Cellars Winery. Food from local vendors and organizations will be available, as well. Kiosks with holiday gifts and crafts will be stationed along the Stroll. There will also be a display of cars dating back to the "Big Band" era for viewing, in keeping with the musical theme of the evening.

“If you’re just looking for an enjoyable evening out in Magnolia, then the Harvest Fest will fill the bill. If you’re looking to sample some local wine and food, the festival will fill that desire as well,” Hunt said. “Or if you’re looking to do a little preholiday shopping or take in the delightful music of the 40s and 50s, then you won’t want to miss out on Harvest Fest.”
