Wal Mart to renew annual Veterans Day ceremony

Tomball Wal Mart will host its annual Veteran’s Day ceremony Thursday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m.

“We at Wal Mart feel it is very important for us to honor all the veterans who have ever served to defend our precious rights and freedom,” Store Manager Tim Raybun said. “We’ve put together a program that is a little bigger and better than what we’ve done in the past and we invite the people in the Tomball area to come and join us in this observance.”

Weather permitting, the ceremony will take place at the front of the store’s parking lot.

“Otherwise, we will move it indoors into the Garden Center,” Rayburn said.

Participating in the event will be the Tomball High School ROTC, Drill Team, Band, Choir and several local dignitaries, including Tomball Mayor Gretchen Fagan, Mayor Pro Tem David Quinn and Tomball Police Chief Rob Hauck.

“We want all the Tomball area veterans and service men and women and their families to attend,” Co-Manager Gary Freeman said. “Of course, we want as many of our local citizens as possible to come out, too, to honor those who have served in the military. It seems to be to be the least any citizen can do on Veterans Day.”

I strongly believe more people would come if it were held after normal business hours when most people are off work; I know I would.
