The event raised more than $19,000 for the American Heart Association. Submitted Photo The main goal of the walk was to raise funds for research and programs to fight cardiovascular diseases. These diseases are the number one killer, claiming nearly a million American lives a year — more than the next five leading causes of death combined. “It is truly inspiring to witness the generosity and humanity of our community coming together to raise funds that have a positive impact on those who are affected by heart disease,” said Tiana Smith, Heart Walk Coordinator at Tomball Regional Medical Center. The funds raised by AHA support advances in medical technology and research that is used to guide the care of the patients at Tomball Regional Medical Center. According to Smith, the Heart Walk raised $19,230. “This outcome reflects a team effort between our Tomball community, Tomball area businesses, Tomball Physicians and the staff here at Tomball Regional Medical Center. Our community took ownership and responded in a big way,” Smith said.
