Raj Hope Foundation to hold holiday dinner and dance

The Raj Hope Foundation will be hosting its third annual Holiday Dinner and Dance at April Sound Country Club for special needs children on Dec. 19 from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

The event will include dinner followed by dancing and a gift exchange with Santa Claus giving the gifts. Guests are asked to bring a gift valued at no more than $20, which can be given to a male or female.

The Raj Hope Foundation was founded in 2005 to help children who are mentally and physically challenged in Magnolia and surrounding areas.

It was named after Raj Vansadia, a 2006 Magnolia High School graduate who suffers from Down Syndrome. The Vansadia family runs and operates the organization.

The cost to attend is $10 for special needs children and $15 for each accompanying guest. Those wishing to attend can pay by check or cash at the sign-in table on the day of the event if they have already registered by e-mail.

The event is semi-formal and organizers have asked those planning to attend not to wear jeans.

Organizers said that with the community’s involvement and support the event will continue to grow each year. The Vansadias said they hope to see 100 special needs children attend this year and are committed to making this an annual holiday tradition.
