The Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce (GTACC) announced plans last week for its 33rd Annual Golf Classic, scheduled to be held at Houston Oaks Golf and Country Club, on Monday, March 21. Houston Oaks Golf & Country Club is located at 22602 Hegar Road in Hockley, 20 minutes west of Tomball.

Chairman of this year’s event is Craig Bogner of Kwik Kopy Printing in Tomball. Bogner said the upcoming GTACC Golf Classic promises a great spring day on a challenging course.

“The course is scenic, with small push-up greens and thick Bermuda rough,” he said. “It is not punishing, but it sure offers a challenge.”

The Houston Oaks course is a well-established, traditional course designed in 1956 with hundreds of century-old oak trees and numerous lakes throughout the property. 

Not a golfer? No problem. There are several ways to participate in the Chamber’s annual Golf Classic including sponsorships, multiple levels of golfer packages, tent sponsorships, as an auction donor or with a door prize donation.

Golf Classic tent sponsors are offered an opportunity to share their businesses with 200-plus golfers. Tent sponsors at the GTACC Golf Classic are provided a space on tee boxes throughout the course, along with a table and two chairs. Tents are provided by participants.

Golf Ball Drop returns

Once again the GTACC Golf Classic will present its Golf Ball Drop. On the evening of the tournament a helicopter will drop numbered golf balls onto the course and the ball landing closest to the designated hole, or in it, wins the grand prize. Second and third place winners will also receive prizes.

“Even if golf is not your game, you can still join in the fun by purchasing a ball for $5 or five balls for $20, and participate in the Golf Ball Drop,” Bogner said. “It’s a great reason to come out enjoy the day.”

Individual players may register online or at the GTACC offices located at 29201 Quinn Road. Registration is $150 and includes range balls, breakfast, lunch, dinner and a goodie bag. The registration fee for teams of four is $600.
