| Magnolia man arrested for making ‘terroristic threat’ |
|
According to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Dan Norris, a dispute between Williams and his wife occurred early on June 1. Williams and his wife were in an argument and officers responded to a 911 call. A warrant was issued for making a terroristic threat.
Williams reportedly returned to the home distraught over the warrant. Deputies responded to the residence around 6:30 p.m. and learned that Williams was allegedly pacing Bear Branch Lane with a gun and had told family members he wanted the deputies to kill him.
Norris said the deputies were unable to locate Williams when they arrived. They stayed on the scene until SWAT and crisis negotiators arrived.
“The deputies were very cautious,” Norris said.
The deputies, SWAT and crisis negotiators created a safety perimeter around the area. Norris said neighboring homes were alerted to move to a safer area until Williams was apprehended.
Around 10:30 p.m. units located Williams walking along a wooded trail near the residence. He refused to stop for officers.
“The suspect refused to stop for deputies and after a nearly 500-yard foot chase, he was apprehended,” a press release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office stated.
Norris said that a gun was not found on Williams at the time of his apprehension.
According to jail records, Williams had posted bail on Friday. His bond was $5,750. Williams was charged with Terroristic Threat and Evading Arrest.
Norris said the situation could have been worse, but “was handled very well.”
“The important thing in this case is that no one was hurt,” he said.
