Tomball Police Department to hold annual Citizens Police Academy

cpa The Tomball Police Department will be hosting its Ninth Annual Citizens Police Academy (CPA) beginning Sept. 6. Community members 18 years of age or older who live, work, shop, or attend school in the City of Tomball are invited to attend.

 

The CPA was established to build on the relationship between the citizens of Tomball and the Tomball Police Department by increasing awareness of safety and by giving citizens a better understanding of the issues and risks that shape the way officers perform their duties. 

 

The CPA consists of eight classroom sessions covering subjects such as patrol tactics, investigations procedures, search and seizure, DWI enforcement, accident investigations, dispatch operations and traumas in law enforcement.

 

The 2011 class will run weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning Sept. 6 and culminate with a graduation ceremony on Oct. 25.  There is no charge for participation.

 

Applications may be obtained from the Tomball Police Department, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during week days, or downloaded at www.tomballpd.com from the Citizens Police Academy tab. Applications may be notarized at the Tomball Police Department for no cost on Mondays from 6 to 10 p.m. and Fridays from 2 to 6 p.m.  Class size is limited to allow maximum time for each participant during the sessions.
