In addition to traditional porch light vigils, most cities and towns now celebrate NNO with a variety of citywide and neighborhood events. Community members are invited to join Tomball first responders at a free event held on Aug. 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. The Tomball Police Department (TPD), Tomball Fire Department, Northwest EMS and Tomball Public Works will have bounce houses, fire trucks, ambulances, police cars and other large equipment/special use vehicles on display. Target representatives and area businesses will set up displays affording them an opportunity to support the community, promote their businesses and recruit future employees. Each business will be provided space for their display. Target will be providing hot dogs for all in attendance, and everyone is invited to watch as Target employees and TPD Explorers complete an artistic mural of the NNO logo in the middle of the Depot. Additionally, the event will include a Mayor’s proclamation, candlelight vigil and push-up contest. For more information or to register, visit the TPD website at www.tomballpd.com.
