LSC-Tomball announces August ‘Star of the Month’

lsc parker If anyone knows how to turn lemons into lemonade, it is Edward Parker of Tomball. The New Orleans native moved his family to the Houston area in 2005, one day prior to Hurricane Katrina’s landfall. In addition, Parker had to endure his wife’s bout with breast cancer in 2008 and a layoff in 2009. Despite it all, this Lone Star College - Tomball (LSC-Tomball) student continues to persevere, determined to make a better life for himself and his family.

Currently enrolled in academic courses required for all degrees, Parker hopes to enter the Occupational Therapy Assistant program. He wants to become a caring and professional occupational therapy assistant and make a difference in the lives of his patients. Parker eventually plans to earn a bachelor’s degree and become an occupational therapist.

Parker’s life experiences have made him realize the importance of a college education and how it can widen career options. He takes his studies very seriously and advises all students to do the same.

“Traditional or non-traditional, I would stress getting to know your advisors and take advantage of any and all tutoring available. Don’t miss any classes and always be on time,” he said.

Parker is not alone in his educational journey. In fact, his wife, Deirdre, and his two daughters, Kennedra and Kimberly, also attend LSC-Tomball. Together, Parker and his family look forward to achieving their career goals.
