James Turner, 18, of Spring, died on Aug. 7 when his truck rolled over on FM 2978 near Carraway Lane.

Around 9 a.m. Turner was headed north on FM 2978 in his Ford F-150 when his truck suddenly hit both the left and right guardrails on the roadway, rolled on its side and slid into the ditch, according to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper Lyons.

DPS, Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department and other emergency response vehicles responded to the accident at 9:22 a.m. and determined that the front left tire had a blow out and caused Turner to swerve left striking a guardrail. The truck then swerved back toward the right side of the road striking another guardrail before flipping on its side.

Lyons said the truck fell over on the driver side door and slid into the ditch on the right side of the road.

Turner was ejected from the vehicle during the accident. Lyons said Turner was found about 75 yards south of the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Turner was not wearing a seatbelt and Lyons added that Turner never used his brakes during the accident.

Lyons said no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
