Magnolia man dies on railroad tracks

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call near High Meadow Ranch Drive and FM 1774 on Aug. 9 where a man was found dead on the railroad tracks.

Officers received the call at 1:45 a.m. and once on scene found Jean Paul Babcock, 32, of Magnolia, lying on the tracks, according to Lt. Dan Norris.

Norris said deputies determined the man had been struck by the train. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace Matt Masden ordered an autopsy.

Norris did not speculate why Babcock may have been on the tracks. Babcock was not in a vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office does not believe there was any foul play.
