Grand jury charges man in bowling alley incident

byrd Anthony Devon Byrd, of Houston, has been indicted by a Harris County grand jury, after a June incident at a Tomball bowling alley that led to gunfire.

Byrd, 25, and two others were arrested in connection to an argument that allegedly led to gunfire on June 18. Byrd was indicted Aug. 19 on two felonies - Aggravated Assault and a Felon in Possession of a Weapon.

According to court documents, Byrd and others were involved in a verbal altercation at the Tomball Bowling Center with two men and a woman at around 11 p.m., when shots were allegedly fired.

Byrd is currently in the Harris County Jail on a $20,000 bond. Byrd has a previous felony drug conviction from 2005.

Capt. Ricky Doerre of the Tomball Police Department (TPD) said that there may have been previous online contact between all individuals, before the bowling alley incident.

“I think they probably had chatted online, which brought (the suspects) out here,” Doerre said. “Their stories just didn’t add up.”

Another adult male was arrested and charged by TPD, but as of press time an indictment had not yet been handed down. A juvenile was also arrested afterward.
