Magnolia youth headed to Equestrian Federation National Dressage Competition

Allison Cyprus, an eight grade student at Bear Branch Junior High (BBJH) in Magnolia, has qualified first in the nationwide U.S. Equestrian Federation (USEF) Pony Division.

She will be traveling to participate in the USEF National Dressage championships to be held at the Collecting Gaits Farm Dressage Festival of Champions, in Gladstone, N. J., Sept. 8 through 11.

At age 13, Cyprus is the youngest rider who qualified during the qualifying period of Jan. 1 through Aug. 1 and is currently ranked number one in the country in the USEF Pony Division.

The Festival of Champions brings together the country’s top 15 riders in four separate levels of dressage and is the selection qualifier for the 2011 Pan American Games in Mexico and the 2012 U.S. Olympic team in London.

Cyprus has been riding dressage and training with Nancy Hinz at Yellow Rose Dressage in Montgomery for five years.

Outside of dressage, Cyprus is an Honor Roll student and a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She also plays on the BBJH volleyball and basketball teams.
