SecondStart gives college students another chance

If Aug. 29 was just too soon to start the college semester, register for SecondStart classes at Lone Star College-Tomball (LSC-Tomball) and get back in school.

Shorter than the traditional 16-week semester, SecondStart classes give students another chance to take courses that begin later in the semester, but end the same time as regular courses in December. The classes keep students from falling a semester behind so they can continue their education track as planned.

SecondStart classes range from a gradual 14-week semester to an accelerated eight-week semester, all depending on the start date. Classes begin as late as October 24.

More than 70 SecondStart classes are available at LSC-Tomball this fall and will be offered in the following areas: Accounting, Business/Management, Computer Information Technology, Economics, Education, Electrician, Engineering Technology, English, Government, History, Mathematics, Pharmacy Technology, Psychology, and Sociology.

SecondStart classes are available days, evenings, or weekends, as well as in online and hybrid formats.

Even though some classes may not start for several weeks, and registration may be available up until the first day of class, it is recommended that those interested register as soon as possible because the limited number of seats fill quickly.

To learn about the SecondStart classes being offered, call 281-351-3310 or stop by the campus and speak with an advisor. SecondStart registration is available online at LoneStar.edu/Registration.

LSC-Tomball is located at 30555 Tomball Pkwy. For more information about the college, call 281.351.3300 or visit LoneStar.edu/Tomball.
