| Police investigate drug, prostitution operation at Magnolia bar |
|
A man believed to be living in the United States illegally was arrested last week by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies for cocaine possession after officers received several complaints by citizens concerned about activities at a local bar.
Javier Juarez Vargas, 26, was arrested for possession of cocaine after nearby residents of Las Pollitas Bar, located at 9035 Carraway Lane in Magnolia, complained to authorities of alleged narcotics trafficking and prostitution being conducted at the establishment. According to the Sheriff’s Office, during the investigation vehicles were seen parking at the bar. One particular suspect entered and departed the bar after a short time, which police say “was consistent with the CrimeStopper and citizens complaints regarding heavy short term vehicle traffic.” During the investigation, Vargas was found to have cocaine in his possession, as well as $1,000 cash. Additional cocaine and a gun were found near Vargas, but he denied ownership of the weapon. Vargas was transported to Montgomery County Jail. The cocaine was reported to be packaged for sale in numerous small zip lock bags with a combined weight of 23.8 grams. According to Lt. Phillip Cash, his immigration status is on hold. Cash also said Vargas told a federal agent that he was in the country illegally. Two additional suspects were arrested in the parking lot for possession of marijuana. No arrests were made, however, in connection with the prostitution claim. Cash said officers saw no evidence of the alleged prostitution. The investigation is still ongoing between the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission. The District 4 Patrol Division, as well as the Pct. 5 Constables Office also participated in the investigation.
