| Classic Hair moves to new location, celebrates anniversary |
|
Sandy Krug, owner and stylist, opened her first shop in Tomball in 1984. Since then she has expanded from one shop and six employees, to five salons and almost 60 employees. This is the fourth relocation for the Tomball salon.

“We’re trying to keep up with the growth in Tomball,” Krug said. “Each time (the salon moves) it has gotten larger because we want to keep up with the newest technology and trends.”
The latest move also coincides with the salons 27th anniversary.
“I never imagined that (the expansion into five locations) would happen,” she said.
Krug believes there are three keys to her success - staying active in the community, the education she requires of her employees and a caring attitude toward her staff and customers.
“I feel like you have to be involved in the city where you do business,” said Krug, who is involved in Rotary and the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce. “Joining the chamber was one of the first things on my agenda when I opened in 1984 and it has definitely been rewarding.”
The relationship she has with her employees is another key, and her compassion - as well as her requirements - she believes, relate directly to how her customer base is treated.
“I hire people according to their family schedules and needs,” Krug said. “If I give them what they want and need then they give me 100 percent.”
By giving her employees the freedom they need in their everyday schedules, it also makes it easier to hire excellent employees that are ready to always learn. Her education requirements, such as requiring all new employees to undergo an industry certification course in hair color within their first year, ensures that her staff is up to date on the latest trends.
Krug also mentioned that the move and anniversary will be celebrated with several giveaways, including one for a one-and-a-half karat diamond ring.
“Any hair service in October or November will get you an entry into the drawing for the ring,” Krug said.
Krug realizes that residents of Tomball—her customers, are the reason her business has been successful. “I want to thank everyone in Tomball for the many years of support,” she said. “They have enabled us to grow with them.”
