Art and oldies come to old downtown Tomball

Two dozen downtown shops and restaurants are set to take part in this month’s Art Walk, Tomball! Oct. 15.

With an earlier start than before, Art Walk, Tomball! will fill the historic downtown and Depot areas with artists selling and exhibiting their original works in metal, oil and acrylic, pencil, clay, wood, photography and more beginning at  11 a.m.

New “art stops” for October include Bella’s Antiques, Everything Bling, Infinity Fitness and The Corset’s Binding, all in the downtown shopping and entertainment district.

More than 40 artists will show their works in shops and restaurants, along the sidewalks and beneath the shade of giant trees throughout downtown. Scheduled to exhibit are artists such as Phyllis Wolford, Pam Wood and Tamara Miller Lee, Marilyn Hillery, Larry Dyson and Amanda Leigh Yarbrough.

Complimentary wine, cheese, sample-sized desserts and more will be offered to walkers as they browse from shop to shop and artist to artist throughout the day.

Later in the afternoon a free concert of oldies and Motown by the Grateful Geezers will rock the Depot Plaza Gazebo from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Music lovers are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets for blast from the past by one of Texas’ premier show bands.  Food from Tomball’s new Cisco’s Salsa Company and beverages from Main Street Crossing will be available for purchase throughout the performance.

Art Walk, Tomball! route maps will be available at the restored Depot on Market  Street at S. Elm Street and at participating shops along the walk. Look for the Art Walk, Tomball! storefront signs in the windows throughout downtown.

Art Walk, Tomball! is an ongoing event this fall with an additional event scheduled for Nov. 19.  New artists, new concert performances and new shops will be presented in the coming months.
