Tomball PD DWI initiative nets seven arrests

Throughout the month of March, the Tomball Police Department recognized an increasing number of alcohol related motor vehicle accidents within the City of Tomball. To address this issue, the Tomball PD partnered with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to conduct a DWI initiative on March 20 and 21.

As a result of this initiative, Tomball PD officers and DPS troopers arrested seven people for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of either alcohol or drugs. DA’s office personnel were on hand to accept charges on all arrestees, as well as issue subpoenas for blood tests on those drivers who refused to give a breath specimen. The program was part of a “zero tolerance” initiative that is intended to heighten public awareness and make the streets of Tomball safer.

The Tomball PD stated it would continue to partner with local law enforcement agencies to address these issues. In addition to these arrests, the initiative also led to three narcotics related arrests, and the arrest of a burglary suspect.
