Haunted Depot, Spooky Caboose open for Halloween scares

The Magnolia Historical Society will host its annual Haunted Depot and Spooky Caboose on Oct. 28 and 29 from 6 to 10 p.m., at the historic Magnolia Depot located on Melton Street.

Children will be able to walk through the Haunted Depot or Spooky Caboose for $2 each. Other activities and games such as a cupcake walk will be available on the depot grounds for children to enjoy.

Recently Dr. J.M. Ware’s Office, the first doctor’s office established in Magnolia in the 1890’s, was donated to the Historical Society. The office was moved to Melton Street and patrons of the event will be able to tour the office which is also connected to a barber shop. The office is decorated with instruments and tools used by the doctor during his practice. The barber shop also houses an old barber stool.

After a tour through either the Haunted Depot or Spooky Caboose free candy will be given. Hot dogs, Frito pie and drinks will be available for purchase.

Admission into the depot area is free as well as parking. Additional parking will be provided at the Malcolm Purvis Library.

All proceeds from the event support the Magnolia Historical Society and its endeavors to preserve local history.
