| Tri-County Fire Heroes Tribute slated for Oct. 29 at Unity Park |
|
A Tri-County Fire Heroes Tribute for firefighters and emergency service workers is set to begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Unity Park in Magnolia. All those wishing to express gratitude and thanks to firefighters and emergency responders from local, state and federal agencies that worked the Tri-County fire, which occured Sept. 5-14, are invited to attend this free community event. Organizers of the Tribute, including Kristin Christ, are anxious to formally thank all the volunteers and professionals who helped during the 10-day fire that claimed almost 20,000 acres across Montgomery, Grimes and Waller counties. "This was such a huge effort by our firefighters and emergencies service workers and it went on for so long. Their heroic acts and life-saving efforts deserve acknowledgment," Christ said. "So, we are hosting an evening when everyone can say 'thank you' in a personal way." Charlie Riley will provide barbeque to firefighters and first responders and then the public at no charge. The Magnolia Community Foundation is assisting in the coordination. The Tri-County Fire Heroes Tribute will present officials on stage at 5:30 p.m. There will be food and drinks, children's activities and a public dance. Throughout the evening there will be live performances featuring patriotic and gospel music. Bands for the dance will take the stage at 7 p.m. For more information, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
