Lynch was diagnosed with stage three, triple negative breast cancer in July 2010. “I was one lymph node away from being stage four,” she said. She and her husband have spent the last year going to treatments, in the midst of working and caring for their three children; Kaylee, Brayden and Grayson. She said when she was diagnosed, intially she was scared, but then she reminded herself that she had birthed children and she could face cancer. “Let’s face this,” she said when the results came back positive. “Let’s do this.” She said she wanted to set example for her children. “No matter what they (her children) are faced with, no matter how horrible, if they have faith, then they can get through anything,” Lynch said. Lynch received chemotherapy from August to December 2010. On Aug. 18, Lynch woke to a surprise on her pillow. Her hair had begun to fall out. Chris and she had made an agreement that if her hair were to start falling out, he would help her shave her head. He came home on his lunch break and followed through with their agreement. Throughout the entire experience with cancer, Lynch says she could not have made it without her husband. “I don’t know if I would have survived. I needed him,” she said. “He really loves me.” In February 2011 she underwent a mastectomy on her right side. During March and April she went through radiation every day. Lynch no longer has cancer, but she is facing reconstructive surgery in March. During the process, Lynch found some refuge in blogging about her battle with cancer and through music, such as Sugarland. “Music is healing,” she said. “They (Sugarland) have songs that have given me strength, hope and love. I am really moved by their music.” One year after being diagnosed, Lynch entered a contest to win a date with Sugarland. She had to submit a video of what her perfect “Tonight” would consist of, one of the titles of the band’s songs. She submitted a photo montage about how just for one night, she would like to go on a date with her husband and not think about doctors, cancer or children. Fans voted for the winners and the finalists were announced Oct. 4. When the final winner was revealed, Lynch said she was shocked. “I was shocked to find out it was me,” she said. “My video touched so many people.” Oct. 21 she and Chris flew to Atlanta, Ga. to go to the Sugarland concert. They had seats on the side of the stage. Following the concert, the couple met the band members. As part of their weekend get-away, the couple also got to go on the date they had been wishing for. Cutline: Tiffany and Chris Lynch, of Magnolia, recently won a date with Sugarland after entering a video contest of their perfect “Tonight.” Tiffany recently battled cancer and wished for a date night with husband Chris on the submitted video. The couple flew to Atlanta, Ga. to meet band members. Pictured (from left) is band member Jennifer Nettles, Tiffany, Chris and band member Kristian Bush. Submitted Photo
