Suspect reportedly assaults officers during family violence call

Several Harris County Sheriff’s deputies are recovering from minor injuries after a suspect in a family violence case resisted their efforts to arrest him. Sheriff’s deputies had responded to several calls over the two previous days to a house in the 11000 block of Foxboro for a case where a man had allegedly assaulted his mother. Each time officers showed up to arrest him, the suspect would escape behind the house and hide. Officers were called back March 27 by the victim’s daughter who said the suspect was in bed asleep.

According to a report, as police tried to take him into custody, he kicked two Sheriff’s deputies in the chest and kicked another one so hard in the leg that the officer’s radio broke into pieces. After struggling for several minutes with the suspect, the officers were able to finally get him handcuffed.

The 20 year-old suspect was arrested and charged with assault of a family member with a $1,500 bond, and assault of a police officer with a bond of $5,000. Reports indicate the suspect struck his mother in the head on two separate occasions.
