Rotary accepting applications for scholarship

The Greater Houston area Rotary Clubs are accepting applications for 2012-13 Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholorships, according to local Rotary officials.

The college scholarships are for one academic year spent studying outside of the United States. They cover funding for tuition plus room and board, round-trip transportation up to a maximum of $30,000. The scholarships are meant for graduate level students.

Rotary officials said that they have designed the scholarships to “further international understanding and goodwill,” according to a statement.

Rotary scholarship winners will act as ambassadors of goodwill while studying abroad. They will appear before Rotary clubs and districts, schools, civic organizations and other forums, while working to further international understanding.

The scholarship is a competitive one, meaning applicants will compete for the awards.
