Larry Dierker, guest speaker at Christian Business Luncheon Jan. 10

christian biz lunch For anyone who has lived in the Houston area for more than a few years, Larry Dierker is an icon. He is one of the most famous Houston Astros players and is beloved by the city and his fans. Dierker’s message, “Baseball and Life” will be designed to be both motivational and humorous.

Having achieved many career highs during his major league days, including striking out Willie Mays and being named an All-Star twice, the Astros retired Dierker’s number  49 in 2002.

Dierker is the author of two books, “This Ain’t Brain Surgery” and “My Team.” He attends Foundry United Methodist Church where he actively supports Cy-Hope, a non profit help for at-risk youth in Cy-Fair.

The Christian Business Luncheon  will be held Jan. 10, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Elmer L. Beckendorf Conference Center on the Lone Star College-Tomball campus.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. RSVPs are not necessary, but available online at, ChristianBusinessLuncheon.org. Free will donations are accepted at the luncheon in lieu of payment. For more information, call 281-782-1408.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
