| MWHS senior Carter to speak at Woodlands Art League |

At 17 years old, Carter has earned numerous awards for his art. In 2011, he earned Grand Champion for his art in both the Austin and San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo art contests. He also earned Reserve Champion through the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Carter won second place in the high school division category in the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts 2011 Student Art Contest. Already in 2012, Carter has earned Reserve Champion at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Contest. Next he will be participating in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Austin Livestock Show and Rodeo will follow. Carter says he plans to enter the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts again this year, as well as the Montgomery County Fair and the Woodlands Waterway Convention. At the Woodlands Art League, Carter will speak about the opportunities available to young artists, perseverance and he will share some of the highlights of his artistic career. Carter said he will speak about the opportunities he has had during his journey with art. The young artist plans to attend Texas Christian University following graduation. Through his artwork he has already earned scholarships. Also speaking with Carter will be Benjamin Knox of the Benjamin Knox Gallery College Station. Knox will speak about his experience as an artist overcoming hurdles and creating a career as an artist during college. Knox is known for his paintings at the Texas A&M University.
