Cannon reminisced about his football playing school days and said, “it gives me goose bumps just thinking about it. I just want to suit-up and get out there on the field again.”

Cannon talked about the importance of working as a team and focusing on team goals.  When Cannon was a Waller senior, the team made it to the semi-finals.  Cannon paralleled the traits he learned in football and compared them to how he applies them when he rodeos.

He said, “I give a lot of credit to Coach DeVous. I wouldn’t have accomplished any of this without learning to be disciplined, stay focused, work as a team, exercise, practice, to be tough, and to never give up.”

Cannon attended I.T. Holleman Elementary School, Wayne C. Schultz Middle School, Waller Jr. High, and graduated from Waller High School in 1997.

“I still live out in this area because this is home,” he said.  “I love the small town, I loved my teachers, coaches, and the schools that I attended. I miss it all and it feels great to be back.”

Cannon recently won the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Bareback Riding Championship and is the top ranked Bareback Rider in the world.
