Hockley teen arrested for growing marijuana at his home

Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a 15-year-old Hockley teen who they say was growing marijuana at his home. Two other teens were also arrested on marijuana charges in the incident.

According the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began when two Crime Stoppers tips led a Harris County Deputy to question one of the youths.

Deputy A. Martin, who is assigned to Waller Junior High School, was alerted by Crime Stoppers that a student had just bought marijuana and had it in his pants pocket. When the 13-year-old was interviewed, he claimed he had found the marijuana on the bus. However, the second Crime Stoppers tip led Martin to the alleged seller.

When that 15-year-old was interviewed, he admitted that he had sold the 13-year-old the marijuana for $5. The 15-year-old also stated he was growing his own plants at his house in Hockley. When Martin asked to see the plant farm, the boy stated his mother had thrown out the plants. Deputies say another 15-year-old was given a marijuana sample for free by the same boy.

The 15-year-old juvenile who was growing the marijuana has been charged with felony selling and manufacturing of marijuana, and after booking, was released to his parents. The other two were charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and released to their parents.
