| Sheriff’s deputy injured after man drives through accident scene |
|
A Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy is recovering from his injuries after a man attempted to drive through a scene June 27 where a major accident was being investigated.
Deputy J. Nadalo was on the scene of a two car accident in the 17000 block of FM 2920 around 2 a.m. where one car was overturned and emergency personnel had the entire roadway blocked. While the injured were being attended to and the Fire Department was washing gasoline off the road, a pick up truck drove into the accident scene and attempted to drive through where the injured were being treated. Nadalo attempted to stop the truck but the driver ignored him. Eventually the driver was blocked in by all the emergency vehicles at the scene, but then he refused to exit his vehicle. As the deputy was escorting him out of the truck, the suspect pushed Nadalo so hard that he fell against the rear of the suspect vehicle, injuring his hip and arm. Other deputies rushed to help Nadalo and the suspect was handcuffed without further incident, though he continued to be belligerent toward officers as he was placed in a patrol vehicle. Kacy Craig, 23, is free on $5,000 bond for assaulting a police officer and a $500 bond for driving while intoxicated.
